About After the Fall: Who Runs This Project Zomboid Server

After the Fall is a volunteer-run PvPvE Project Zomboid server. It is free, it is not pay-to-win, and its finances are published. This page covers who is behind it.

What After the Fall is

A public multiplayer Project Zomboid server running Build 42, built around one rule: everywhere is PVP except the safehouse you claim and the settlements players build. That is enforced by mods written for this server, not by asking people to behave.

Around that sits a player-driven economy, claimable vehicles, skill recovery, regular community events, and a curated collection of roughly 70 mods. The features page goes through all of it, and the numbers behind it are public: the live economy report and the player market read from the running server rather than from a press release.

Who runs it

The server is operated by Bureau of Anomalous Review, a volunteer team. Nobody draws a salary from it. Admins are recruited through a written application and a structured review rather than being handed the role, and they answer tickets daily. Griefing a claimed safehouse, mod exploits and cheating are dealt with by people, not left to automation.

How it is funded

Hosting costs money, so donations are accepted through Ko-fi. They are optional and they buy no unfair advantages in-game. Beyond hosting, donations go to paying mod authors, map makers and artists for work the wider Project Zomboid community uses, and to prizes for events.

Rather than ask you to take that on trust, we publish it: income, operating costs and projections are on this site and updated regularly. That is unusual for a game server, and it is deliberate.

Seasons and wipes

The server runs in seasons rather than wiping without warning. Season 9 began on July 29, 2026, with new features and changes announced ahead of time in Discord. Previous seasons are kept as history. The boards and totals on this site are scoped to the current one rather than deleting what came before. The public roadmap shows what is being built next.

The mods

The collection is public and maintained in the open on the Steam Workshop. It mixes community mods (vehicles, clothing, hairstyles, quality-of-life fixes) with the systems written specifically for this server: automatic PVP toggling, safehouse and car claims, the economy, and skill recovery. Those last ones are why the ruleset works, and they are the part that gets imitated.

Not an official Project Zomboid server

After the Fall is an independent, community-run project. Project Zomboid is developed and published by The Indie Stone, and we are not affiliated with, endorsed by, or sponsored by them. You buy the game from them; what we run is a free community server on top of it. The mods in our collection belong to their respective authors, and every statistic on this site is generated by our own server rather than being official game data. The full wording is in our Terms of Use.
